Governor Walz is reportedly ending his COVID-19 emergency powers much earlier than originally planned. The governor’s office said Walz will end those powers today instead of August 1st following an agreement with the USDA to protect federal SNAP food benefits. State House Democrats also included an amendment for a transition plan in the government budget bill, which passed through the Legislature yesterday. Walz said his emergency powers allowed for a quick and effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
