As we head into the long 4th of July weekend, extra law enforcement will be on Minnesota roads starting today (THU).
“That’s not just State Patrol, that’s local law enforcement as well, so there will be extra troopers, deputies, police officers that will be working DWI enforcement that will be out there looking for those drivers who have made the wrong decisions, but as we mentioned we want to make sure that people are making the right decision, that they’re planning ahead for this.”
State Patrol Lieutenant Gordon Shank says they’ll also be on the lookout for speeders. Preliminary reports show 198 people have died on Minnesota roads so far in 2021 with 75 speed-related deaths. The extra enforcement runs through July 31st.
