Governor Tim Walz’s COVID moratorium on evictions would be phased out, under a compromise budget bill the Minnesota Senate passed today (Mon) — but Elbow Lake Republican Torrey Westrom chewed out the Walz administration for not issuing assistance payments fast enough to those who owe back rent:

“There’s tenants that need help.   There’s property owners (landlords) that are losing their properties because of (unpaid) mortgages.   There’s utility bills.  There’s cities that aren’t getting paid because this is so slow and pokey.”

Westrom says, “Governor, I hope you’re listening.”  Walz isn’t immediately available to comment.
