The lead Minnesota Senate negotiator says it’s imperative the legislature this week pass a compromise bill to phase out the governor’s COVID moratorium on evictions. Madison Lake Republican Rich Draheim said late Tuesday:
“I probably had six messages today from landlords begging us to move on this. We’ve been working on it for over a year.”
Draheim indicates Republicans and Democrats are putting final touches on a housing budget bill that includes the eviction moratorium “off-ramp.” It’s possible the House could take up the bill as soon as Thursday, but it appears a decision hasn’t yet been made.
