Thousands of state employees are in jeopardy of losing their jobs. The Minnesota Legislature did not pass a two-year budget in this year’s legislative session. If the budget is not passed before the end of the month, a government shutdown would begin July 1st which means about 40-thousand state employees will be unemployed. In a letter to employees who received the layoff notice, Governor Tim Walz said he believes the process is “just a formality” on the way to a budget agreement.
