The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says eight people died on state roads over the Memorial Day weekend. That figure matches the deadly number reported in 2018. DPS officials say four deaths were speed related, two were possibly alcohol related, and two were because motorists weren’t wearing seatbelts. So far this year, 159 people have died on the roads, marking a 43-percent increase from a year ago.
