The Minnesota Department of Human Services announced “Pandemic-EBT” benefits are being expanded to children under five.

“We know that a lot of families were impacted by a reduction of work hours or loss of jobs. Just having extra food benefits in a household is really important. And we know in a lot of households there are children five or younger. So this really rounds out the program.”

Assistant Commissioner Tikki Brown says the program will benefit kids who were five and younger between October of 2020 and May of 2021 and will be paid out in three installment periods. Eligible families will automatically be notified of their payments.
