MnDOT is out with a new Statewide Pedestrian System Plan–providing policy and investment guidance to improve places where people walk across and along Minnesota highways.

“The plan really guides MnDOT’s policy and investment in walking, so when MnDOT does a construction project, it helps to direct folks and guide folks in terms of what the public wants to see to making improvements to make walking safer.”

MnDOT’s Jake Reuter says more than 2,700 Minnesotans gave input on safety improvements. Since 2015, around 40 to 60 pedestrians are killed in Minnesota annually.
