After a short breather following the end of the regular session, Minnesota lawmakers have more work to do before Memorial Day weekend, preparing for a special session likely in mid-June:

When legislative leaders reached a deal with Governor Tim Walz on the state budget one week ago, they gave committee chairs overall dollar amounts for each of the major budget categories — E-12 education, health and human services, higher education, public safety, transportation and so on — and told them that their working groups must come up with details in spreadsheet form by this Friday, and actual bills the Friday after that, on the other side of Memorial Day.  Expect of lot of private conversations this week, some in person but many virtual.  How much of the state budget details are hashed out in public remains to be seen.
