(Waseca, MN) — The Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association has named Waseca Police Officer Arik Matson as the 2020 Police Officer of the Year. Matson was given the award after being shot and severely injured while responding to a suspicious person call on January 6th of last year. He was also given the Medal of Honor. In acknowledging him and several other officers from across the state, the Association said they represent the bravest of those keeping Minnesota communities safe.
