(Hennepin County, MN)  —  Juneteenth will now be a paid holiday for employees of Hennepin County.  Commissioners made the announcement this week, saying it will provide an opportunity to reflect on the progress of African Americans across the United States.  This year’s Juneteenth is on a Saturday, but the paid holiday closing all county offices will be observed on Friday.  June 19th is commemorated as the day enslaved people in Texas in 1865 learned they were free.
