Eastbound Highway 60 motorists, from Madelia to Lake Crystal, are advised to expect a detour beginning Wednesday, June 2 as construction begins on the 9-mile corridor. The detour will remain in place until the end of June.
Traffic will be detoured to Watonwan County Road 3/Blue Earth County Road 13, and Blue Earth County Road 20. Upon removal of the detour, additional work on Highway 60 will be completed through the use of lane closures.
The project includes resurfacing 9 miles of eastbound Highway 60, from the north junction of Highway 15 near Madelia to approximately one-half mile west of the west junction of Blue Earth County Road 20 near Lake Crystal. In addition to resurfacing the highway, several culverts will be replaced, with others being lined. A snow fence will also be added to reduce the impacts of blowing and drifting snow to Highway 60, near the intersection of Blue Earth County Road 109.
Minnesota Paving & Materials of Rogers was awarded the project with a bid of $2,842,593.78.
