The Minnesota Department of Health says suicides in 2020 decreased as compared to 2019. Records show about 100 less people died by suicide last year, but that 77-percent of those deaths involved males. MDH Commissioner Jan Malcolm said it is the responsibility of the community to support people in need as we try to continue to stop these preventable deaths. Overall, suicide rates nationwide have been increasing over the last 20 years.
