The same insurance coverage and access to “telehealth” services as for in-person medical appointments — that’s the goal of a bill the Minnesota Senate unanimously passed Tuesday. It also funds a study to keep an eye on potential problem areas:

“Will some communities be saying, well, we can do more by telehealth, so we’re not gonna invest in a brick-and-mortar clinic?”

…asks Roseville Democrat John Marty. Ham Lake Republican Michelle Benson adds:

“Are specialists going to be more available in places they never were… or are we going to put at risk the physical presence of providers in what are now underserved communities?”
