(Minneapolis, MN) —   Governor Tim Walz is making specific requests to the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board as police reform efforts sweep the nation. In a letter signed Thursday, the governor says the POST Board should develop logical practices and accountability for law enforcement response to protests, ban peace officers from belonging to extremist organizations, and seek requirements to keep detailed records on complaint and discipline data. Walz emphasized that the board has a chance to create “meaningful and transformational change” to policing in Minnesota.
