The former Minneapolis cop convicted of killing George Floyd is being held in a separate prison unit. Officials confirm Derek Chauvin was moved away from the general population for his own safety. He was found guilty on Tuesday and will remain behind bars until sentencing in June. Prosecutors may ask for 40 years because they want a tougher sentence than what’s recommended. The three other officers involved in Floyd’s death last year will stand trial together in August.
