“We’re definitely not out of the woods yet with this pandemic.”

State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says the trend in COVID cases in Minnesota has been going up without interruption for 25 days, with the case-positive rate jumping a whole percent in one week.   And Malcolm says the percentage of COVID cases requiring hospitalization is also trending up:

“With the spread of the variants, …they’re easier to transmit but… other countries… have found the virus to potentially lead to more severe disease.”

Officials say the average age for COVID hospital cases has dropped, as has the average age of deaths from COVID.
