Minnesota youth who aged out of the foster care system are urged to return. Assistant State Department of Human Services Commissioner Lisa Bayley says new federal funding will allow those eligible to receiving monthly funding:
“We’ve got new federal guidance which we’ve implemented now in Minnesota to allow those young people to return to foster care if they want to — to receive additional benefits and get financial assistance.”
Bayley says the base rate is $964 per month, but the average is approximately $1,100 in assistance. The money can be used for things like food, housing, health insurance, tuition.
