This season’s income tax deadline has been extended to May 17th both at the state and federal level. Department of Revenue Commissioner Robert Doty says despite the extension:

“We’re encouraging filers to file as soon as possible. You don’t have to wait until May 17th to file your return. So the sooner the return is filed, the sooner the department can review and process the return and hopefully get out any refunds that may be due.”

Doty says to keep in mind the grace period does not include individual estimated tax payments.
