A former boss of Derek Chauvin testifies Chauvin held his knee on George Floyd’s neck for an inappropriate amount of time.   On Thursday retired Minneapolis Police supervisor David Ploeger [[   PLOH-guhr ]] said he talked to Chauvin on the phone after Floyd’s arrest and told him a knee to the neck is only an approved use of force for a reasonable amount of time. He testified the restraint should have stopped once Floyd was handcuffed and on the ground. Chauvin’s defense team argues he was following police department protocol.
