(Coon Rapids, MN) — A transgender high school student has won a 300-thousand-dollar settlement from Anoka-Hennepin School District after being forced to change in a segregated locker room.   Yesterday, the ALCU and the state Department of Human Rights announced that Nick H. got the settlement from a lawsuit over treatment at Coon Rapids High School in 2016. Nick was allowed to use the boys locker room for swimming for several months before the school board banned him and threatened discipline if he did. The payout comes alongside required staff training and a series of policy reforms the school district must introduce, including compliance with the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
