The Minnesota House passed a 107-million-dollar funding bill for summer school programs. Sponsor, Minneapolis Democrat Jim Davnie says the bill invests in students, families and communities who are hardest-hit:

…”who have carried, in many ways, the heaviest burden of this pandemic.”

House Republican Minority Leader Kurt Daudt says the bill is equitable probably only for the Minneapolis school district, which gets 60 dollars per pupil:

“And the statewide average is 31. So can you imagine how many people are below 31, if Minneapolis is getting 60?”

Republicans say the bill benefits state bureaucrats, not kids.
