“Amazing.” That’s what former U-S Attorney for Minnesota Thomas Heffelfinger says of the jury selection process in the Derek Chauvin trial.
“The lawyers and the judge should be proud that they were able to seat a panel of 15 jurors who are diverse both by race and gender, but also by age and background.”
As it stands now, the jury consists of nine women and six men. Nine are white, four are black, and two identify as multi-racial. Ultimately 12 jurors will serve with two alternates.
