It promises to be a big day in the Derek Chauvin trial.
The judge is set to make his announcement on the defense request asking to delay and move the trial. That’s prompted by publicity from the city of Minneapolis’ $27 million settlement with George Floyd’s family. Defense attorney Eric Nelson brought up the point again Thursday after another press conference from city officials about the settlement.
The judge today is also set to announce his decision on whether evidence from Floyd’s 2019 arrest may be included in this trial. So far, 12 jurors have been seated, and two alternates are required.
