State officials are pushing a bill to help businesses that were affected by the riots last year. On Thursday, the House Tax Committee passed the latest version of the PROMISE Act, which aims to help business owners who were affected by the civil unrest following the death of George Floyd. According to reports, the new bill plans to restore businesses and nonprofits along Lake Street and West Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis and University Avenue in the Midway area of St. Paul. The legislation now heads to the House Ways and Means Committee.
