Republicans late Monday tried to force a vote in the Minnesota House on state tax relief for businesses who got COVID emergency loans from the federal government — but the Democratic majority said workers should get help also. Dilworth Democrat Paul Marquart says the bill should exempt COVID unemployment benefits from state income tax — but doesn’t:

“Before the train leaves the station, we need to make sure we bring everyone along:

House Republican Minority Leader Kurt Daudt called the Democratic majority “pathetic”:

“You have the power to help Minnesotans! You have the power to make sure the money they’re getting from the federal government can stay in their pockets, you refuse to take action!”

Democrats respond they want to help families as well as all businesses struggling with COVID.   Republicans respond they’ll ask for a vote on that bill later this week.
