Senator Tina Smith says she is hoping the latest COVID relief package will help mothers and women who have been impacted by the pandemic get back to work.
“I’ve had lots of conversations around the state about the need to shore up our childcare system whether it is family providers or childcare centers.”
Smith says because of the childcare shortage, many women are leaving the workforce.
Smith says the recent COVID-relief package signed by President Biden will help families get back to work:
“This American Rescue plan includes big help to shore up those childcare systems and help make childcare more affordable. That’s going to be another important help to families as they are getting back on their feet.”
Smith says this funding was something she personally fought for to be included in the American Rescue Plan.
