A Minnesota lawmaker is proposing a bill that would ban students from kindergarten through third grade from being suspended or expelled. State Representative Ruth Richardson of Mendota Heights, who is the sponsor of the measure, says action against the youngsters could only be used if there is a safety risk. The DFLer added that the bill is needed because there has been a pattern of discrimination with who is suspended or expelled, and this inequity needs to be brought to an end.
