State law would closely duplicate the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, under a bill moving forward in the Democrat-controlled Minnesota House. Duluth Democrat Jennifer Schultz points to pending court challenges:
“If the A-C-A is struck down or big components of it are repealed, we need to be ready.”
But Sartell Republican Tim O’Driscoll says:
“We are speculating on something that may or may not happen, on parts of a law that may or may not be struck down, on a set of moving parts, but we’re gonna try to enshrine this into state statute right now.”
Any move to put the A-C-A into Minnesota law would face stiff opposition in the Republican-controlled Minnesota Senate.
