A new report shows that Minnesota sheriffs issued a record number of handgun permits in 2020. The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s annual Permit to Carry Report lists 96-thousand-554 permits issued last year. That nearly doubles the amount from 2019. Hennepin County recorded issuing the most permits in the state. In its report, the BCA says over three-thousand crimes in 2020 were committed by people with firearms permits.
