A Minnesota Senator was at the center of a hearing that looked at the massive security failures during the U.S. Capitol attack on January 6th. Two Senate committees called a joint hearing yesterday, where Democrat Amy Klobuchar called the attack a deadly assault on democracy. She said the Capitol was desecrated by a huge, angry mob. Capitol Police were quickly overwhelmed on January 6th. Klobuchar said lawmakers want to know why it took so long to summon National Guard troops to the Capitol. Several officials testified during the hearing, including members of the police who said they were outnumbered and underprepared.
