Governor Tim Walz could roll out his off-year bonding proposal for state public works projects during what will be a busy week at the Minnesota Capitol:

The governor’s number is expected to be in the several-hundred-million-dollar range, which could get Republican support except that it will likely include about 150 million dollars to help Minneapolis and Saint Paul rebuild from last summer’s riots.   Lawmakers will continue wrangling over Walz’s 35-million-dollar public safety request for the first of the Floyd officer trials, now only two weeks away. And at the end of the week, lawmakers and the governor get an all-important updated economic forecast which will tell them, as they set the next two-year budget, whether the state amid COVID uncertainty will avoid a big budget deficit.
