A Rochester-based company is working to develop an oral coronavirus vaccine. Vyriad, a research lab that studies ways to fight cancer, has been developing its version of an immunization since last year. Vyriad’s vaccine is a liquid that would be swished around in the mouth and swallowed, similarly to others made for viruses like polio. After months of tests and studies, the company is looking to partner with a larger drug company for clinical testing and mass production. Researchers say the oral vaccine could be more effective and more accessible.
