Two state lawmakers (Senator Lindsey Port from Burnsville and Representative Sydney Jordan from Minneapolis) have introduced what they call a student-driven proposal to require “climate justice education” in all Minnesota public schools. It would focus on the interconnections between climate change, justice and equity — and Annie Chen, a junior at Mayo High School in Rochester says:

“I know we really haven’t been doing any I guess like polling so far, but from what I can tell, it generally does have a lot of support from students and youth.”

Representative Jordan says students are asking lawmakers for tools to combat a changing climate they have to live in.
