A new Gallup poll shows 62-percent of Americans say the political parties do such a poor job representing the American people that a third party is needed. The number is up from 57-percent in September and beats the previous high of 61-percent in 2017. Carleton College political scientist Steven Schier, however, contends…

“Third parties can’t really function well in our electoral system, but I’ll repeat what Mark Penn, the Director of the Harris Poll said, ‘we are a united country divided by two political parties.”

The Gallup poll was conducted between January 21st and February 2nd–before news reports surfaced about government officials in previous Republican administrations being in discussions to form a third party that would aim to counter former President Trump.
