(Hennepin Co., MN) — The judge in the George Floyd case won’t reinstate third-degree murder charges against Derek Chauvin. Prosecutors argued the third-degree murder charge upheld against former officer Mohamed Noor created a precedent for the same charge against Chauvin. Judge Peter Cahill ruled Thursday there’s no precedence until after the deadline has passed to petition the Noor ruling. Chauvin’s set to go to trial on second-degree unintentional murder and manslaughter charges on March 8th.
