Officer Arik Matson has been through a lot since last January, but the community continues to stay by his side every step of the way.

Officer Matson was shot and critically wounded in the line of duty on January 6th, 2020, and spent over 7 months in a rehab facility in Omaha away from family and friends. On October 19th, he finally returned home.

His story of survival inspired countless people across the country and a previous GoFundMe set up immediately after he was shot raised over $206,000 from close to 4,000 donors across all 50 states.

However, as the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association explains in a new GoFundMe campaign they launched, “While he has made great progress in his recovery he still will have a long road ahead of him and his family.”

The community is supporting him and his family in this next phase of his recovery and has contributed over $8,000 in one day.
