The community is coming together to preserve a piece of Owatonna’s history.
The mural at Jerry’s Supper Club in Owatonna is an iconic piece of local art and history. So when the building’s ownership changed and renovations were planned, the Steele County Historical Society knew they had to everything they could to ensure it was around for future generations to enjoy.
A GoFundMe set up by the organization explains, “Hanging prominently in the dining room of the restaurant for 50 years, this large mural told the story of Owatonna’s past. The building is now being renovated and the mural being taken down. Our goal is to bring the mural to the Steele County Historical Society’s History Center where it will be hung for permanent display in the atrium.”
The community has been quick to respond to the fundraising effort, raising over $3,500 in one day. Their goal is to raise $4,000.
