“No tax increases,” say Republicans to Governor Tim Walz proposing an income tax increase on the wealthiest Minnesotans and the most profitable corporations. Walz responds:
“Just so people out there are listening: If your family is making less than 20 thousand dollars *per week*, this isn’t gonna hit you.”
The governor in his state budget plan says a top-bracket income tax increase would go to increase K-12 school funding, help struggling families and small businesses, and bring back Minnesota’s economy sooner.
House Republican Leader Kurt Daudt says, “Proposing tax hikes is shockingly tone deaf after Minnesota families and businesses have endured nearly a year of the governor’s shutdowns and constantly-changing executive orders.”
