The new, more contagious variant of COVID-19 has been detected in at least five Minnesotans–all residents of the Twin Cities metro area. Sarah Vetter with the state Health Department says…

“Knowing that it is not here does not change our public health recommendations, while it is thought to be more easily spread from one person to another, it has not been found to cause more serious disease.”

Vetter says Minnesotans need to continue masking up and social distancing. Two of the patients with the variant strain told doctors they had traveled internationally. None are in the hospital.
