Le Sueur County Sheriff Brett Mason reports the unseasonably mild winter weather that our area has been experiencing has taken its toll on the ice conditions. There are areas of unsafe ice on the lakes and anyone going out on area lakes needs to use caution.

Mason reports that in the past several weeks, people have been using motor vehicles to get around on the lake. There are several lakes in the County that have areas of open water and poor ice conditions. Noting that ice thickness varies, advising that one location on the lake may have 10 inches of ice and the next location may only have 3 inches of ice.

Please use caution and know the areas of the lake that you intend to travel on. Please stay safe and take care.
