Carleton College political analyst Steven Schier says Wednesday’s events in Washington D-C are not first time there’s been violence and even killings at the U-S Capitol, but Schier says what makes this different…

“We’ve never had an incumbent president lose an election and foment this sort of popular unrest. And I think that’s what’s given it momentum and that is what’s unusual about the present.”

Schier says Trump will be one of those held responsible for Wednesday’s events — but he says the president is likely not *legally* culpable because he did not encourage anyone to break the law or overthrow the government.
