“Terrifying.” That’s what state Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm calls the recent spike in COVID-19 cases statewide and throughout the midwest.

“Around the world an additional half a million people since yesterday, in our country 132,000 more cases today than yesterday. In Minnesota, we’ve had alarming numbers for several days now.”

The state Health Department today reported around 24,000 positive COVID-19 cases over the last three days. Malcolm is calling on all Minnesotans to limit contact with people outside their homes, and to continue to mask up and maintain social distancing when leaving the home is necessary. Governor Tim Walz is expected later this week to announce further significant updates for combating the spread of coronavirus in Minnesota.
