The State of Minnesota’s getting over 100-million dollars in grants for heating assistance for low-income families.
The money comes from the federal government’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, otherwise known as LIHEAP. The Minnesota Department of Commerce says people who make less than 50 percent of the state’s median income are eligible for assistance. If you’re anticipating having problems paying your winter heating bill, consider applying for heating assistance now. For more information on the LIHEAP application process contact your local utility provider or community action agency.
