A section of westbound I-94 near Monticello remains closed after a morning crash involving more than two dozen cars, pickups and semis. State Patrol Sergeant Jesse Grabow:
“Multi-vehicle pile-up there. It involved approximately 29 vehicles, half of which were semis. During the course of that crash… several fires were started amongst vehicles, semis…. Large load of tractor tires that caught fire.”
Nine people were taken to a local hospital but there were no serious injuries. Officials say the freeway was slippery and there was a snow squall at the time of the crash. The State Patrol says several drivers left the scene before first responders arrived, and they’d like to talk with them and anyone else who has information about that multi-vehicle crash this morning on I-94 near Monticello.
