To protect the safety of Mayo Clinic Health System patients and staff, patients in the emergency departments and hospitals in Mankato, New Prague, Fairmont, Waseca and St. James will no longer be allowed to have visitors.
The visitor restrictions go into effect Friday, Nov. 13. The restrictions do not apply to outpatient clinics.
Surgical patients may also have one masked visitor accompany them to the pre-surgery and post-surgery areas. However, visitors will not be able to enter the hospital if the patient is admitted.
Compassionate exceptions will be granted on a case-by-case basis, including births and end-of-life care, among other specific circumstances. All visitors granted exceptions will be screened prior to entry. No visitors under the age of 16 will be allowed.
These visitor restrictions will remain in place until further notice.
