Minnesota Senate Republicans have again chosen Nisswa Senator Paul Gazelka as their leader, after apparently retaining a razor-thin majority in Tuesday’s election.   Gazelka’s major task in the upcoming legislative session is to hammer out a state budget with what will apparently be a Democrat-controlled Minnesota House and Democratic Governor Tim Walz:

“Again, we’re the only divided government — legislative branch — in the United States. I don’t know how that happens, I don’t know why I get that privilege, but we’re gonna make it work.”

Gazelka says Senate Republicans will “reach out where we can” but will not support the governor’s 20-cent gas tax increase and “a number of the other things that he’s proposed over the years.”
