Secretary of State Steve Simon says this year’s election went smoothly in Minnesota. He credits voters, poll workers and election judges with keeping things moving. And as for activity from foreign bad actors or other election interference…

“We had real-time communication with dozens of counties and with law enforcement at every level and we have no evidence at this point, at this point, there is no evidence of any malicious attack or even attempted attack in Minnesota.”

Simon does caution, however, that in 2016 it wasn’t until months after the election that it came to light that Russia tried–and failed– to interfere with Minnesota’s election system. He says officials will continue to monitor for any possible threats that may have occurred.
