The DNR is encouraging all deer hunters to make a plan to invest in the health of wild deer populations. Hunters can do this by getting their deer tested for Chronic Wasting Disease in areas where surveillance testing is taking place:
“It is critical that we get enough samples to let us monitor where CWD is in the state.”
The DNR’s John Williams says the testing process is very easy:
“You can use one of our self-service sampling stations, or maybe work with a taxidermist or meat processor we’ve contracted to take samples.”
Williams says hunters should review the regulations handbook to see if C-W-D surveillance is occurring where they will be hunting.
