MY Place is thrilled to be celebrating its two-year anniversary on October 29, 2020. Since opening our doors two years ago we have provided after-school programming, summer programming and full-day distance learning support throughout the pandemic.

“This special occasion would typically be marked by a large gathering of community partners and supporters, due to Covid we are doing things a little differently,” says Erin Simmons, Executive Director. In celebration of our anniversary, MY Place is hosting an online silent auction that has been coordinated by Minnesota State University Mankato’s IBE Class (Integrated Business Experience). “An important aspect of this class is community engagement and philanthropy,” says Dr. Shane Bowyer.   Students from the IBE class have partnered with MY Place for the last four semesters raising funds and providing opportunities such as ice skating for members.

MY Place provides youth with programs to support success in school including distance learning and homework help, a healthy lifestyle, and character and leadership skills to prepare them to become contributing community members. It is the mission of MY Place to provide a nurturing environment that empowers youth to build the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to reach their full potential.

While registration is required, there is no cost to participate in the program. In addition to homework help, students have the opportunity to participate in art, music, STEM, games, physical activity, and specialized clubs.

If you are interested in learning more about our program, volunteering, or making a donation, please call our office at 507-720-6898. The silent auction can be found at or on our Facebook page.
